Hi friends,
how are you?
Thursday night I went to a holiday market and this one vendor was selling children's books. I was immediately transferred back to the time when my kids were little and we would snuggle on the couch and read books.
Oh I miss that time. Of course I told the vendor to enjoy these moments with her little ones.
I really am inspired to find a way to read to my teenagers. That's a challenge.
1) Which book would interest them?
2) I'm boring ;)
3) they are never home together
Is there a better picture to describe what it means to be present then sitting on the couch and reading together?
Here is how the dictionary defines presence:
The state or fact of existing, occurring, or being present in a place or thing.
This is the definition I want to focus on today. Of course there is a presence of God with a deeply spiritual meaning.
So how can we be present this holiday season?
reading a book together
find advent stories and read them
read about Christmas in different countries
bake together
watch your favorite movie together
spend time deliberately with your spouse over a cup of coffee
ask your children what they would like to do with you ( doesn't have to take a lot of time or cost a lot of money)
do a craft together ( make a wreath? decorate a wreath? make an ornament? design your Christmas card? )
talk about your Christmas memories from your childhood
