Hi Friends, What did you implement last week? Happy New Year, my friend!! I have a wonderful small group of friends in a mastermind I host (we are all in Terri Seville's course called Vision 101), and we decided to use January to make our new vision boards. I might write about that next week. But vision boards alone don't magically work. It takes so much more. So let's start with a main ingredient to have your vision for 2022 unfold. Goalsetting? No Massive action? No Better habits? No More money? No Gratitude journaling? No New friends? No It's your mindset. As Mr. Ford so powerfully said:
Whether you think you can or think you can't, you are right.
Without the right mindset, nothing on your vision board or your goal list, will manifest.
You know how it goes. You are all excited about making changes in the new year. You sign up for a class, a course (therefore my accountability group to actually finish the course), the gym, a diet, a book club...…you name it.
You have so much excitement and energy and will power, you are definitely making changes this year....and then February or March comes around, and you ran out of steam.
This is human.
This is normal.
I have been there.
I was stuck.
It wasn't until I worked with a coach that I was able to transform my life.
I learned to change the dialogue in my head.
Now, I am not your cheerleader. I want you to be your own cheerleader.
You won't run out of steam that way. You won't run out of encouragement. You will always have you.
So be your own cheerleader.
I am sharing an excerpt of a newsletter by Marissa Peer.
Sometimes it's good to hear it "both ways".
"This time of year we often have expectations that the coming year will be better than the last year. But as we embark on the first proper work week of 2022 tomorrow, I know there is a tendency to be very hard on ourselves. So I invite you to take a different approach. Instead of talking to yourself in a harsh or critical way, talk to yourself like a cheerleader, applauding you for your achievements and installing a powerful self belief that you are capable of so much more.
The best resolution you can make for yourself for 2022 is to be your own cheerleader. This simple mental shift is powerful and it works if you depersonalize the cheerleader. In other words, imagine them not as your voice, but maybe as that of a cartoon character or a favorite figure from your childhood — so over the top and silly that maybe it makes you smile. Write out what that cheerleader would enthusiastically shout to you — the kinds of things you really want to hear — and then repeat that dialogue as often as possible: in a journal, out loud in front of the mirror in the morning, or in your head as you travel to work.
What happens next is curious: With enough repetition, you start to believe what this silly cheerleader has to say. You find it easier to work towards your goals because you aren't being forced or shamed or pressured, but rather you're moving forward with the quiet confidence that you can get it done.
If the start of this first week is daunting to you, spend some time installing this inner cheerleader and allow them to get to work. I promise things will feel easier.
Much love and happy 2022 Marisa"
