Tuesday Thoughts And The Consistency Of Change

Hi Friends,

I trust you were encouraged to explore near or far travel this summer.

Today, I want to encourage you to keep growing and learning and changing... even when others don't like it. I am here to encourage you and help you on this journey through midlife, through divorce, through empty nesting...

Embracing Change:

The Continuous Evolution of Human Potential

Change is the only constant in life. Throughout history, we see countless examples of individuals who have evolved, adapted, and transformed their craft. Claude Monet, who was one of my favorite artist since high school, the renowned French painter, is a prime example. Initially influenced by the realist tradition, Monet gradually shifted his style, becoming a pioneer of Impressionism. His willingness to embrace new techniques and perspectives allowed him to leave an indelible mark on the art world. His later paintings are much freer and had lost the sense of detail he once embraced. He literally painted huge canvases with just lilies (from his pond), no borders, no details, no bridge, no humans...

Similarly, musicians often undergo significant transformations in their careers. Take, for example, the legendary band The Beatles. From their early rock and roll hits to their later experimental and psychedelic sounds, they continually pushed the boundaries of their music. Their evolution wasn't just about staying relevant; it was a natural progression driven by their desire to explore new creative territories.

Or look at the Olympics. The sports and difficulty levels have changed immensely!

These examples reflect a fundamental truth about human nature:

we are always in a state of becoming. As we navigate through life, we accumulate experiences, knowledge, and wisdom that shape us. This constant evolution is not just limited to our professional endeavors but permeates every aspect of our existence. Yet, change is not always met with enthusiasm. As we evolve, we may outgrow certain relationships, environments, or even our own past selves. Some people in our lives might resist our transformation, feeling threatened or left behind. It’s natural for people to leave when our paths diverge. However, this shouldn't deter us from our journey of growth. Change and growth can be challenging, but they are also incredibly rewarding

When we embrace change, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and experiences. We become more resilient, adaptable, and better equipped to face life's uncertainties.

Every change, no matter how small, adds a new layer to our identity, making us richer and more complex individuals. It's essential to remember that change doesn't mean we abandon our core values or lose our sense of self. Instead, it's about expanding our horizons and discovering new facets of our personality and capabilities. Just as Monet's shift in style didn't negate his earlier works but rather enriched his legacy, our personal evolution adds depth and dimension to our lives. In a world that is constantly changing, staying stagnant is not an option. Embracing change means accepting that we are works in progress, perpetually growing and evolving.

This week's affirmation:

I am determined to keep growing.
